Mark Hanson's post triggered a memory that I had to confirm by going back thru
the city council's minutes. In the MPR article, my former council member Paul
Ostrow indicates that he's receptive to the idea of a living wage policy, but
has reservations about the possible impact it could have on the economy. In
2002 he had those same reservations about the Equal Benefits Ordinance and
ended up voting AGAINST the ordinance. I'll definitely be checking to see how
he votes on this and if he supports it, I think it's reasonable to ask him why
he has a different standard for the Living Wage Proposal than he had for the
Equal Benefits Ordinance.

For the record, I'm gay, and I have comparable questions about monitoring a
vendor's employee benefit programs as they relate to domestic partners.
