Live Mariachi music, I believe, is often played on weekends at Boca Chica Mexican Restaurant on St. Paul West Side where Wabasha ends and Concord St. begins. I have no idea where else that might occur. Boca serves a fair fare of Mexican food. It's pretty authentic. Third generation Mexican American ownership. Part of the better-known Coronado family of restaurant owners (La Casa Coronado was among the first commercial restaurants in St. Paul, probably the Twin Cities, starting in the 1940s, perhaps earlier.
I'm inclined to prefer La Cucaracha on Dale St. off Grand Ave. in St. Paul for food, but all the music is canned.
