In response to Christine Viken's question as to why the Stone Arch Bridge potential catering/rental agreement was not discussed last night at the MPRB Meeting . . . . .
I voiced concern about any commercialization on the bridge at the previous meeting during the Administration and Finance Comm. Discussion of this topic. Comm. Young did as well. Since that time, there has been a lot of public concern about this idea as well. At last nights meeting it was my intention to separate consideration of the plank road from that of the Stone Arch Bridge. I believe a separate vote on the Stone Arch Bridge would have failed. Because of its imminent lack of support from the Board - we pulled the item in the beginning of the meeting. There needs to be a lot more work on the Plank Road proposal as well. Bottom line is that the Stone Arch Bridge will not be leased for any private activity and Comm. Young, Dziedzic, Berry-Graves and myself, among others, voiced concern about a lack of neighbor notification and public hearing related to the Plank Rd. As a result, the plank rd proposal was tabled for now as well. Sincerely, John Erwin At-Large Comm. MPRB REMINDERS: 1. Be civil! Please read the NEW RULES at http://www.e-democracy.org/rules.
