Thanks, Dorie I've lived here off and on for almost 30 years, but I really haven't paid much attention because most things haven't really affected me that much. I never married and didn't have kids in the schools.
Like I mentioned in my post, in general, I think that development along Hiawatha is important for the city and for the LRT and probably won't affect many people. But they are proposing a lot of development on 38th and as far east as Dight. There are also changes on Minnehaha at 35th, 38th and 40th in which people probably are interested. It may be a good idea there, but people should be informed. Colvin Roy and Schiff are grossly negligent for not publicizing this before the election. The rest of the Council as representatives of the city should be picking up the slack, and the Planning department head should be called upon to explain why this is being slipped in without publicity. Ray Marshall Hiawatha -----Original Message----- From: Dorie Rae Gallagher [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, October 25, 2005 11:54 PM Ray, you know that everything is planned, signed, sealed, delivered and then it is brought to the public for three meetings so we can blow off steam and believe we are part of the planning and performing an important civic duty! I would like to see the day when the rail goes beyond the mall and downtown. I don't wish to see the day when the rail will be going through areas that look like Hyde Park or Oak Park in Chicago. Personally, I feel this will happen along 55 with time and density. Looking at the makeup of the neighborhoods, this could happen very easily.. our condo warriors will dispute this of course. Parity in taxes at that point will be debatable. dorie gallagher/Nokomis ******************* REMINDERS: 1. Be civil! Please read the NEW RULES at http://www.e-democracy.org/rules.
