Tamir says: This is about the people who had more access under Cherryhomes, attacking and resenting the people who have more access now.
I cannot see what this has to do with anything. The Jordan neighborhood was not in Cherryhomes Ward. Even if it had been, Megan didn't live here when Cherryhomes was a Council member. Dah.... While I don't agree with some of my neighbors veiwpoint that all landlords are bad, I think the problem is that we only have problems with the bad ones. We have a few landlords in our neighborhood who continuously cause problems and refuse to work with us. Frankly, it is scary to see a for sale sign go up and not have any idea what is going to buy it the property. I say what rather then who to include these few property owners who make a substantial living off of renting to whomever for however much they can. On the other hand, Keith's resurrecting an incident from 1993 that never went anywhere is a sign of desperation. I did not know Don at the time, but was glad to hear that someone thought it was wrong for members of the African American community to harbor sex offenders. One who I investigated, got charged and convicted at about this time, was a Mpls school teacher from Missouri who molested several vulnerable African American preteen males. He picked kids who were gang wannabes with no family backing, therefore making them less likely to be believed. Regardless of that, we got a guilty plea and he got nine months in the work house. Since the Mpls Schools fired him, he needed a job in order to qualify for the Huber law. This law allows the offender to leave the workhouse and work in the community, returning a night to sleep. He was hired by a Northside church as the assistant minister and choir director. The head minister defended this decision saying the guy had "repentented". Fortunately for the children in that church, the perps probation officer wasn't as forgiving since a stipulation of his sentence was no contact with children. It was attitudes like this churches minister against which Don got mad. Believe me, the Catholic church is not the only religous organization that sticks it's head in the the sand. And if Don's detractors want to condem him for this viewpoint and call him a zealot or religous fanatic, I think they are way off base. If all Christians are Republicans, does that mean all democrats are atheists? Frankly, there are alot of so called Christians on both sides that make me want to cheer for the lions. Please, let's leave this argument to D.C......they are doing a good enough job giving whatever higher being is in charge an Excendrin headache. At any rate, I will be glad when tomorrow night is here. Anne McCandless Jordan REMINDERS: 1. Be civil! Please read the NEW RULES at http://www.e-democracy.org/rules.
