hi George,

Use the UNC (Universal Naming Convention) address 
rather than the mapped or mounted drive.  When 
you use the Linked Table Manager (Tools-> 
Database Utilities), select the path to your 
BackEnd via My Network Places so that you end up with an something like

         \\YourServerMachineName\c-drive\MyDataFolder\MyBackEnd.mdb

That is the cross-platform method of addressing 
files on a network.  Once set, the back end will 
be found from any machine on your network that 
you place the front end.  It's worth noting that 
the closer your BackEnd file is to the root of 
your drive, the faster the access will 
be.  ...\Documents and Settings\... is NOT the place for a data file
