My text file does not have field or record delimiters; is there a way of
creating record delimiters easily?

I agree with Clauss. You don't actually have an importable file. That is
what I meant by ou may have to massage the file first.

MS Word,
save it in MS Word format, then use the function "transform text into
array". Your txt file might become more structured and easier to import
into Access.

Thank you Lonnie.

A copy of the pdf file is enclosed (I hope the moderator will not delete
it)From there I simply save it in txt file format and that is the structure
that I will have to work with.

Yes there is a logical order but it is messy.

No there are no columns and that is part of the problem. There is only one
column which may or may not contain several fields. Also there is no
delimiter for the end of the record which is another problem except that
every record begins with a rather long number.

I hope all this does not sound incoherent and please let me know if you need
more details. I could send you the entire daily pdf file

What I am trying to do I know it can be done. In fact I was doing this for
two years until on June 9 the issuer of the pdf report changed the format
and now the person that helped me with the original report is no where to be
found.

A million thanks for your time

Then you may have to massage the text file first. Is it in any type of
logical order? Are there a number of columns? Are there any spaces between
columns? Can you tell us more about the structure of the data in the text
(pdf) file?

Thank you for your help. I have tried to do this but my problem is that the
text file is a converted file from a pdf report. The only delimiters are
carriage returns for each line and I don't see carriage returns considered
delimiters, are they? Once again thank you

In the database window choose FILE drop menu.
Then Get External Data
Then choose Import
Then a file chooser window will pop open. At the bottom where it says file
type, choose Text Files.
Find your file and select it.
Then a simple wizard will start to help you with the rest.
