Keith,

do some reading in the Acc2003 Help files just to be sure.  In the 
earlier versions "no locks" would just protect the whole record, it 
didn't get down to field level.  In most installations it is very rare 
to get conflicts in a work group.

If you do get lots of collisions, that would mean that you have a large 
number of users, in which case it would be a smart idea to upsize to SQL 
Server for that and a whole bunch of other reasons.
