I'm a student too and it's great to know people also interested in
implementing jianpu notation. I've been researching on jianpu notation
software and I have some information you might think useful.
First of all, the basic idea of jianpu notation is really simple. However,
when it comes to some instruments, it might get a bit more complex. There
are special symbols for specific instruments, for example, the traditional
Chinese instruments *erhu* and *pipa*, they both have relatively complex
repertoire of symbols, which might need us to pay attention to when
arranging the scores. Though it might not be a problem but it may be
helpful to keep it in mind.
Second of all, about the format, MusicXML 3.0's support for jianpu notation
is realized through 'fake' Tab and other pre-existing features, not
considered respectively as an independent structure. So it cannot hold some
necessary/important information, which might need to be handled by the
notation software. You can refer to their mail list archive for more
information if interested.
Honestly, I'm still exploring and learning, so I don't know if my
information here is correct or to the point. Just hope it can be helpful.
