Possible if you had none of those "effects" running, but still depends upon how the load display defines the "idle" state - it might just ignore that "residual" load the desktop itself produces. > Anyway, I have ditched those rubbish DE's and moved to JWM (Joe's > Window Manage) which consumes something like 7MB max (compared to > KDE4's hundreds of MB's). CPU sits at idle when I do nothing. Which kind of memory? For openbox, "top" lists the following: VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 17284 8952 6344 S 0 0.3 0:07.24 openbox The executable has a size of 330392 bytes. It uses the X-libs, glib-2 and in addition libffi and a couple of others. It's the window manager of lxde which I don't have installed, and as such it doesn't care about providing even desktop icons (which I don't have a need for anyway). But Martin had had some trouble with openbox already in the past, so if you don't experience any problems with your JVM, I might try it also. (Unfortunately, it seems like Arch Linux doesn't provide it as a package.) -- (Weitergabe von Adressdaten, Telefonnummern u.ä. ohne Zustimmung nicht gestattet, ebenso Zusendung von Werbung oder ähnlichem) ----------------------------------------------------------- Mit freundlichen Grüßen, S.
