Mine was set to "Locale" - which under my FreeBSD account is set to
en_GB.UTF-8 as far as I'm aware.
[~]$ echo $LANG
en_GB.UTF-8
But indeed, changing that setting to "utf8" does solve the problem - I
can now see the correct characters and saving doesn't mangle it. Thank
you for that tip.
Is there a way to ask MSEide (or any MSEgui test app) to show me what it
thinks the value of "Locale" translates to on my system?
