Yes, it is possible, I did it for the font size, font height, font color and color background. With last commit, a stat file save position, size, width of columns, state of check-boxes. You may programally set "Places" show/hide with the new "panel" property, the same for "Compact list" with the new "compact" property and also for the "showhidden" new property.
