Hallo Fred van Stappen,
you can get the latest (still development) versions of the "mo4stock"
unit for localization / translation from my web space now.
It is contained within two new files, which also serve for
demonstration purposes: "podemo4stock.zip", an adapted version of your
prior "podemo" program, and "ideU_mo4stock.zip", a modified version of
your ideU making use of the new unit.
The current version of "mo4stock" does _NOT_ depend on anything the
application must declare. Indeed, the variable "lang_langnames" _must
not_ be declared by the application any more, since it already is
provided in the _library unit_ "msestockobjects" (for "eons" even).
There are just two functions the application _can_ provide, apart
from the definieitons of the application arrays, in "mo2arrays" (or
something alike):
The first one, "PROCEDURE setApplicationLanguages" should be known to
you already.
Now, I added a function "FUNCTION setLangFilePattern: string" that
defines a "pattern" for the specification of the storage place of the
language files. This provides more flexibility and was needed to
accomodate the linux system storage path for language files. The unit
now can handle this method as well, which is compiled in on linux only
if the storage path contains the flag string "/LC-MESSAGES/" that is
used for this ("/usr/share/locale/<lang>/LC_MESSAGES/<Appname>.mo"
is the commonly used path). If this function is not defined, the
behaviour is (should be) the same as before.
I hope everything works out correctly for you too and you can enjoy
the new version.
Meanwhile, I'll proceed - as time allows - with the work on the
generalied function for gathering and translating all application text
strings (of interest) without the need to extract and later assign
every single one programmatically. An early version does already work,
but there's still a lot to do.
