Yes, that is to be expected - i made NO changes to that part, tried to
keep it as original as possible. So all the compiler complaints that
this part evoked before should still occur, and all required changes to
any of the "old" code aswell.
Ir was my impression that this older code should be considered
deprecated and be prone to be removed some time in the (near?) future.
If that is not the case, I'd suggest to separate the to lines of code
into separate, and disjunkt, sets of units that do not interfere.
Keeping them together makes the code complex and less understandable
and managable, as much of the code is similar, but superfically
different, in both lines, with only tiny common fragments.
Additionally, I'm afraid that it will not be easy to adopt the "old"
code to the requirements of the new compiler.

Well, I can have a look at that part to see if my worries are
justified. This will probabely involve a couple other units as well.
