Hi Daniel,

Does the "mspdebug-remove-root.patch" mentioned above imply that the
statement "If you aren't running the program as root, you might not have
permission to use the USB bus" (taken from the Download page of your
website) no longer applies? As you may remember, this has been a long time
concern of mine (not a huge concern, though!).

I apologize for not closing the loop on the version 0.6 release announcement
thread, concerning the creation of udev rules to give normal users access to
the files in /dev/bus/usb, and, by extension, MSPDebug. I went away and read
up on udev and developed an appreciation for its power in solving dynamic
device management problems. After some trial and error I came up with some
rules that seemed to work, mostly. There was one nagging message that I
couldn't make go away: "rf2500: warning: can't detach kernel driver: No data
available". Then I noticed that this same message appears in your Example
usage transcript. So I guess it's not really a problem!

I'd be happy to share my udev rules, but, as I mentioned, I'm wondering if
the patch makes them unnecessary.

Thanks once again for your continued improvements!

John
