Create a new application in your SCCM R2 Console with the ConsoleSetup.exe as
content. Then create a deployment type to uninstall the old console and install
the new console.

Installation command is: consolesetup.exe /q TargetDir="C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager" EnableSQM=0
DefaultSiteServerName=%YOURSERVERNAME%

Uninstall command is consolesetup.exe /uninstall /q

Detection method I have used is an msi install code.

This has worked well for us – a little work to setup initially but then it’s
done.

Cheers
Damon

Thank you Daniel. There it is.

How did you upgrade your consoles? Did you deploy the exe or just the msi file?

Thanks,
Ken …

Check the server share for the Console Setup folder in your SMS_SITECODE share.
I think it's in tools.

Subject: [mssms] Upgrade stand-alone console after R2 upgrade.

I just finished the install of R2 (ConfigMgr 2012) and things are looking
pretty good. I’m still checking things out to verify that all is well. I
figured while I was going to give it an hour or so to bake, I would upgrade my
stand-alone console. I was hoping that the upgrade would create a package to
do the console upgrade but I don’t see one.

I tried to run the R2 installer on my workstation, but it didn’t get an option
to upgrade the console so I cancelled it.

What am I missing or doing wrong?

Thanks,
