I had similar issues on XP with Java 1.5 Update 16 and disabling the auto update feature through command line or a transform - setting this key worked for me in my environment:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Update\Policy] "EnableJavaUpdate"=dword:00000000 Another setting you may need to set is "EnableAutoUpdateCheck"=dword:00000000 On Windows 7 the path is probably HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\JavaSoft\Java Update\Policy. I got looking at it and the dang thing doesn't seem support the switches to stop the autoupdate. I even hacked aht the MSI and still no go. wondering what you folks did for this version?
