If these packages are not going to update so frequently or there is no update 
since years, i would delete pck files as they only help you in decompressing 
the content. By chance if you update the package, the entire package will be 
transferred over the WAN. If you have any other disks that have more disk 
space, change the compression drive letter and create no sms on drive. Sms file 
on the lower disk space to not use them.

You should not delete pck files. Have I ever done it? Yes many times. :-)
Is it a real solution? No, it's a band-aid to get you by until you can get more 
disk space.
