I couldn’t agree with you more Sherry, that would be excessive if I did it on
every machine! Allow me to elaborate a bit more…
Our Default Client Policy has a higher priority number (5) than the policies
for workstations and servers (3 and 4 respectively). The workstation and server
policies are configured to send hardware inventory every 24 hours. The 30
minute hardware inventory is only applying to PCs that do not have the
Workstation or Server Policy, which is usually 5 or less PCs. In our
production environment of 2200 PCs, a PC that has the Default Client Policy
sends in a Hardware Inventory within the first 30 minutes and then sends in its
next hardware inventory approximately 1 day later having received either the
Workstation or Server Policy which contains the 24 hour Hardware Inventory
schedule.

I hope that clarifies things.

Thanks,
Chris Brucker

Every 30 min? That's exceedingly aggressive. You may want to watch for
inventory backlogs in your inboxes. Perhaps that's fine in your environment
with your clients; but I certainly wouldn't recommend that aggressive of a
schedule.

I ran into this issue with the hardware inventory. I setup a Default Client
Policy which sets the Hardware Inventory schedule to every 30 minutes, which is
applied to the All Systems collection. This has worked well to get the PCs to
fall in the correct collections.

Thanks to everyone who suggested the limiting collection – that was the issue.
The client is not a member of the limiting collection because it’s not
reporting its hinv which is a new problem entirely that I can’t figure out.
I’ll start a new thread about that one; I’m sure everyone is looking forward to
it!

Thanks again all.

Daniel.

Something you may have checked already, but I find it overlooked a lot of
times. Did the limiting collection update as well and reflect the addition as a
member?

Hi,

I’ve got a particular collection that is not reflecting new additions after an
update membership/refresh. It appears to be just one collection. Any thoughts?

Daniel.
