The C++ runtime for Visual Studio 10, is required – not sure about a hotfix…
If you use the MSI to deploy Acrobat XI then you have to install it yourself.
Setup.exe might install the VSC++ runtime, but I am not sure of that… The MSI
definitely does not. You should also make sure Winword is not running when
installing Acrobat.

Here is some pseudo code (autoit script ) I use to do this…

;; Check for VC++ 2010 and install if Missing
                $VCx86Installed =
GetHKLMString("SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\VC\VCRedist\x86",
"Installed",False)
                $VCx64Installed =
GetHKLMString("SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\VC\VCRedist\x64",
"Installed",False)
                If @OSArch = 64 then

                                If $VCx64Installed <> 1 or $VCx64Installed =
Null Then
                                                WriteLog("OS Is 64bit and is
missing VC++ 2010 Redist x64",$Logfile, True)
                                                RunWait('"' & @ScriptDir &
'\VC10RT_64\vcredist_x64.exe" /quiet /noreatart')
                                EndIf
                                If $VCx86Installed <> 1  or $VCx86Installed =
Null Then
                                                WriteLog("OS Is 64bit and is
missing VC++ 2010 Redist x86",$Logfile, True)
                                                RunWait('"' & @ScriptDir &
'\VC10RT_64\vcredist_x86.exe" /quiet /noreatart')
                                EndIf
                EndIf
                If @OSArch = 32 Then
                                If $VCx86Installed <> 1 or $VCx86Installed =
Null Then
                                                WriteLog("OS Is 32bit and is
missing VC++ 2010 Redist x86",$Logfile, True)
                                                RunWait('"' & @ScriptDir &
'\VC10RT_64\vcredist_x86.exe" /quiet /noreatart')
                                EndIf
                EndIf

                ; Perform installation
                WriteLog("Installing Adobe Acrobat Pro 11.",$Logfile, True)
                If $flagsilent or ($flagUserPresent = False) then
                                $InstallAcrobat = 'MSIEXEC /i ' &  '"' &
@ScriptDir & '\AcroPro.msi" ' & '/qn /lv ' & @tempdir & '\Acrobat11Install.log
TRANSFORMS=' & '"' & @ScriptDir & '\HCIS.mst"'
                Else
                                $InstallAcrobat = 'MSIEXEC /i ' &  '"' &
@ScriptDir & '\AcroPro.msi" ' & '/qb! /lv ' & @tempdir & '\Acrobat11Install.log

                EndIf
                Runwait ($InstallAcrobat)

EndIf

Let me rephrase… It doesn’t accurately list the pre-reqs. ☺

Seems like C++ runtimes and maybe one hotfix is required, testing now.

Oh, but it does!

  * 1.3 GHz or faster processor
  * Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 3 for 32 bit or Service Pack 2 for
64 bit; Windows Server 2003 R2 (32 bit and 64 bit); Windows Server 2008 or 2008
R2 (32 bit and 64 bit); Windows 7 (32 bit and 64 bit); Windows 8 (32 bit and 64
bit); or Windows 10 (32 bit and 64 bit)
  * 512 MB of RAM (1 GB recommended)
  *   1.85 GB of available hard-disk space
  *   1024x768 screen resolution
  *   DVD-ROM drive
  * Internet Explorer 7, 8, 9, or 10; Firefox Extended Support Release; or
Chrome
  *   Video hardware acceleration (optional)

It only lists that KB for 2003 R2 and XP. Maybe it was superseded by something
for Win10 if you're getting that message?
