Place I used to work had a client in Huntsville, "Andy's Pest Control" (decent outfit but they sold out to Cook's some time ago) -- made many support trips down there. Once they had lightning hit their 2-way tower, jump from the radio to the electrical, from electrical to a terminal 25 ft away, down the RS-232 cable into the computer and literally blew apart the 1488/1489 chips on the S-100 serial card. Everything was off at the time but lightning just doesn't pay any attention to the off-switch... Although the terminal was toast (an Adds 101 I think), I soldered in replacement chips and the system itself was fine.

Regardless, Huntsville's a pretty nice town (or was then). Seems like an old HS buddy still lives there and about 15-20% of our Chattacon attendees come from there. That said, I don't think I'd like the 4hr/day commute and really don't want to move (disrupting kids, wife, etc.). But, as you say, it is an option...

Ciao,
Dee

BTW... You should consider moving to Huntsville, AL.. Its maybe 2 hours from Chattanooga, TN... I used to work for Boeing/NASA there... And since the High-Tech industry is starting to come back.. I'm sure all of the major defense contractors are really starting to hire.. Check it out... It just might be worth your while..
