Yeah, that's why I said "crash *or* corrupt."  I meant an exclusive or...

Yeah, that's why I keep a Linux rescue disc handy all the time.  As a yet
more realistic example, try installing Windows on a computer running
Linux...  I love the way Windows actually "corrupts" the MBR by writing its
own loader code (which can load Windows only) on the grub code (which can
load any reasonable OS) without asking you.  Now *this* is monopoly,
thinking your OS is the *only* OS people *might* be running... <sigh>.
