I suppose you could also simply create a batch file for releasing the IP and
put it on the users' desktops and have them double-click it before they shut
down.  I have seen this before . . . at least for NT 4.0.  For win2k, I
would definitely use the logoff script if you want to absolutely make sure
that the IP is released.

I was just reading that a DHCPRELEASE message isn't automatically
generated when you shutdown a DHCP client (atleast for NT 4.0).

In Win 2k, could you do a log off script for ipconfig /release?
I'm not sure about NT 4.0
