I haven't done this but.... Check KB article Q237677. It details all the options for LDIFDE and gives an example of importing and exporting. At the bottom there is a note about the file format being important when modifying an entry. But since the CN is a vital part of the DN used to identify the entries in AD I'm wondering if changing the CN like this is even possible...
> > I am trying to use LDFIDE to change attributes of user accounts in AD. > The attribute I am trying to change is the command name (CN) > of a user. > When I try this I get a message : > > Connecting to "server1" > Logging in as current user using SSPI > Importing directory from file "import.ldf.txt" > Loading entries. > Add error on line 1: Not allowed on RDN > The server side error is "The attribute cannot be modified > because it is > owned by the system." > 0 entries modified successfully. > An error has occurred in the program > > The message seems to indicate that I cannot change a CN attribute > because it is owned by the system. Is this correct? Has anyone > successfully done this? Does any one have a good resource on LDIFDE > that that would share?
