It sounds like the problems you are having are prior to installing the SRP (Q299444).
The Windows NT 4.0 SRP exposes an issue with versions earlier than 4.24.0.0 of the Compaq Array Controller device driver (Cpqarray.sys), but since you can boot into the OS, the array controller driver doesn't sound like the problem. It sounds like your server gets all the way up to the logon prompt and then crashes either before or after trying to log in. This seems like something to do with winlogon.exe and a certain .dll (perhaps a 3rd party application that replaces the default msgina.dll.) I've seen this before on servers where there was remote control software loaded on the server - specifically Remotely Possible / Control IT. The way to fix it is to do install a parallel install of NT and copy over the default msgina.dll over the corrupt 3rd party .dll. What else is installed on the server besides IIS? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Tree" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "MSWinNT Discussions" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Friday, July 05, 2002 8:55 AM Subject: RE: problems applying sp6a > Tried that - still doesn't work.
