Ok, so, you're wrong! SRAM needs power to keep data. Probably you're
talking about DRAM, whose current exists when the stored bit change. But
DRAM keeps data in its internal capacitances, and how things aren't
perfect, there's also some internal resistances, that drains slowly the
electrical charge of the bits. So, it's necessary a refresh to recharge
each bit-cell of DRAM.
PS: FMPAC has an internal CR2032 3V lithium battery. My FMPAC is 8 years
old, and the battery is original. So, I think that SRAM used in FMPAC is a
special kind of LOW POWER SRAM.
