Is there a way of clever programming that won't make things even slower on
3.5MHz? If so, please write about it!

I think it is the opposite: no software and because of that few users. I
know that a lot of developers have GFX9000. Most of them (including me) had
great plans for games and utils, but very few results until now.
Fortunately MoonSound is supported very well.
