Yes I know,
But then I would have to build some hardware which is able to read 
packets and filter them. It would be a complicated piece of hardware
to test an develop (at least for me, but you're welcome to try).
Another problem is the ID (which is now also set up in software).
Every cart has to have it's own unique ID like a MAC address/NODEID.
Eveyone who builds one has to be sure he's chosen an unique address.
So we then need to set up some kind of database to ensure this.

Now the MSX will handle this. I agree that it puts unnessecary
strain on cpu time if you've got more than 2 computers connected. 
That will be a disadvantage I guess.
But by controlling this in software you're totally free in the 
protocol you use for transmitting data. It's just for fun you know.

You're supposing a plain networkcard. I just want to build
a fast link between my msx and my PC. Although a real msx network
card (e.g. ehternet) would be cool.
