All this talking about MegaRAM makes me want to use one. But how to build
one? Maybe it can be done in a somewhat ESE-SCC style. (I don't know much
about electronics, but hey what the hack).
Couldn't we make a kid of kitchentable design, something like this:
tear down an old PC and rip out an ISA (doesn't this have the same
pin-spacing as the MSX-cartridges?) card and some SIMMS (easy compact type
of Memmory) and an old casette-tape box to use as the casing of the
cartridge. And some CHEAP new components to control it all.
remove all parts from the ISA card and select a part of it to cut it in the
shape of a konami-size-cartridge.
make some room (hole) to place the SIMM.
isolate the connector pins by removing some of the metal 15 mm. from the
beginning of the cartridge to prevent short circuitting with the original
wiring of the ISA card.
cut 30 little wires of 40 mm.
rewire from ISA-pin x to SIMM-pin y
rewire from ISA-pin z to SIMM-pin a
....etc.
This way anyone could make their own MegaRAM ((maybe a new type: 1 Mb)),
(making a MegaRAM-disk would be more complex, not everybody can make Eproms)

And make a nice step-by-step HTML manual for it.
Advantages:
-anyone could do it (in NL, BR, ES, EE, DK, SE, IT, JP etc.)
-don't have to make a (complex) PCB design
-parts are easy to get hold of
Disadvantages:
-new MEMMAN routine needed
-new Romloader routine needed
- it would look like SHIT
-Just a thought-
