>An ADC available in all MSXs? Is there one?
Aaaaah... that's why it's not in my documentation 8;)
Weren't you Maarten who introduced the ADC issue? Since someone said the
Turbo R has an interrupt attached to the ADC and the other MSXs have not
then I made the assumption all MSXs had an undocumented way (port) to read
an ADC, which I supposed to be part of the cassette control hardware.
So tell me. Which models of MSX have a DOCUMENTED and accessible 8-bit ADC.
>Only one I can think of is in the cassette port, which is not available on
>turbo R and it's 1-bit anyway.
It it is so, then the MIC IN cartridge for ADC-less MSXs is a practical device.
A 1-bit sampling routine really is not worth the hassle since the PSG has
more resolution. In the 1st ZX Spectrum models (which didn't include a PSG)
1-bit sampling was OK since it had a plain 1-bit driven built-in speaker.
>But Laurens, tell me why you don't want to sample on PC. Is it a practical
>problem or are you too subborn to go for cross-development?
I think it's a problem of environment. Sampling on MSX is more exciting and
fun. Please consider cross-development in other platforms less dull than
PC, even though you prefer MSX (like the Amiga). I also use a compact
portable Macintosh PowerBook with my own custom made MSX gfx/audio tools to
aid me in R+D wherever I go.
Kiss you lot.
