Good lord....what a level of discussion whe have here...
There is a very good thing to say for microsoft, they managed
to make software that made and still makes them very rich.
Nobody in the MSX scene could even come close...
Success is not about what is better/best it is about marketing.
If marketing had been better for MSX, it could have had a minute
chance of being a very small player in the commercial world of computing
still.
And what about all the lockups on my MSX? Vampire Killer, I managed to lock
my MSX every time I played it (ordinary philips 8250) and a bunch of disks
that I bought and never worked... that is the essence
of software, it is virtually impossible writing bug-free software
even for microsoft.
You wish you worked for Bill...ha..
