I indeed think it's also kind of bullshit to stop calling the turboR an MSX
just because of that one, stupid, obsolete casetteport.
The turboR is a nice MSX to me (I would like to have one), and to me, the
only disadvantage of the machine itself is the extended instruction set of
the processor (MULUW/MULUB). But it's hard to get one, so it's not really an
MSX to program for if you want to reach a lot of people (which is the case
with games). Saying 'it's not a standard' is a pretty lame argument I think.
