SCC autodetection doesn't need a ROM. The instrument data area is used to 
check the presence of an SCC.

And about the "switch after BEEP": you can make it a lot easier on yourself 
by soldering the switch in a way that it only switches the ROM, not the 
entire cartridge. See Sean Young's pages for details.
