Ken, thanks for trying this out. The second solution in the second link was 
for Gnus. So, does this mean that if I put it in init.el and define a hook 
then it should work?

Since I am relatively new to emacs, I would appreciate if you could tell a 
bit more about how you exactly did this.

ps. and I love your idea of solving math problems too. So many have 
suffered from drunk emailing!!
