Actually, I'm familiar with and have tried installing those packages from Brew and Macports (haven't tried Fink yet). This was my preferred approach to installation since I felt more confident that the various libraries and applications would be "aware" of each other. But that was not my experience. I was unable to get either Brew or Macports to install msmtp with ntlm support. I had success in compiling msmtp with the most authentication methods when I built libntlm, libgsasl, and msmtp from source. Everything msmtp supports was available...but not NTLM, unfortunately. Perhaps it would be different if I installed Fink and tried from there. I'll give that a shot.
