That is the whole crux of our problems, we have players who are not as good
as they were 3-4 years ago. With that being the case, shouldn't we buy some
players who can replace the players we have who are on a downward slope?

Giggs no longer beats opponents on the wing on a regular basis. Keano can't
be the dynamic central midfielder of yesteryear. Beckham has problems when
faced with a half-decent pacey left back who denies him space to cross
(ignore the fact Ruud jumps like a lead balloon!!). That is 3 out of the
midfield 4 who in my opinion are not as effective as they once were. Giggs
and Beckham are guaranteed first team places which shows our lack of a
squad.

Out of our 10 most played outfield players - Silvestre, G Nev, Rio, Brown,
Giggs, Keano, Veron, Beckham, Scholes and Ruud - the average age is 27.
Arsenal's average age is 28. So in terms of age of the first 10 outfield
players, Arsenal do not have that many years left in them but they have
players who week in week out perform to the highest standards - Henry, Pires
and Vieira namely. Henry is one player I admire greatly, the pace and power
of the man is frightening. Pires ain't too bad either!

We need to find players who are young and bloody good to give the side more
skill, vigour and pace. I'll leave that duty to Super Scout Martin
Ferguson!! On second thoughts........
