I don't think I will ever again see us go to penalties in a European tie.
Was the last one in Moscow 11 years ago?

I think had we played Juventus we would have beaten them quite easily. I
think if we had played Milan & got an early goal, the game would have been a
classic. With Ruud & Shevchenko both on the pitch & both in good form we
would have seen goals.

A Workmate of mine is Italian & supports Juventus. He told me prior to oue
1/4 final with Real that all the Juventus message boards & mailing lists
were hoping Real would beat us. It wasn't an anti-United sentiment, but they
feared our style of play and thought they would fine it easier to beat Real.
They were proven right.

Milan won the CL getting by 2 other Italian sides, without actually beating
them in any game. They also lost 5 games en route to winning. I know I am
repeating myself here but we went unbeaten in 13 CL games, BEAT 2 Italian
sides en route, beat the German champions and were involved in a group that
knocked out the Spanish Champions.

Doesn't get better than that.

All hypothesis, but would one of the two Italian
sides, (ignoring Juves weakened team that showed at OT
in the group) have been able to choke us to death
with one up front, and hurt us on the break whilst
we pushed for a goal?
