Terry, I'm quite disappointed by your observation here and I have to agree with Ethel and the rest. Ruud was no way being theatrical with his reaction. How could he? All he did was move out of the way while Viera tried to kick him. If he had not then Viera would have made contact which would have meant a straight red. Besides, Ruud had his hands in the air and was astonished by Viera's actions based on his facial expression. Viera's lunge was down to frustration and he thoroughly deserved his second yellow and subsequent dismissal. Quit frankly, if anyone says that he didnt then they need their heads examined. The ref had a direct view of it and reacted appropriately. So I don't think it's fair of you to say that Ruud over-reacted.
But what irks me the most is how the arsenal players reacted to Ruud after his penalty miss and after the final whistle - absolutely disgusting. Never have I seen such behaviour from a bunch of professionals before. And the audacity of Wenger afterwards to suggest that it was Ruud's fault for Viera's dismissal speaks highly of a club that's veiled in arrogance and hooliganism. I sincerely hope that the FA responds by fining those players who attacked Ruud. And hats off to him for not retaliating and just running off to the changeroom. If the FA needed evidence of the arse players attack on Ruud, then they should speak to the 67000 fans who witnessed it - and the few million who saw it on the telly. Quite shameful and disgusting. If there are any arse fans lurking on this list, you should hang your heads in shame. I know I would if United players reacted that way. -----Original Message----- From: fanxb2eric [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 22 September 2003 07:45 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [Mufc] Re: This week's discussion..... Ruud was "a bit" theatrical in the way he jumped back but Viera should have kept his feet down. Some TV replays suggest that the ref saw the incident from an angle that made it unclear whether contact had been made. Ultimately, Viera is responsible for the whole thing, closely followed by the referee. Ruud played a part in the sending- off but it was minor one compared to those two. Arsene's accusations are merely intended to deflect away from the his own thuggish players. ------------------------ Yahoo!
