> Two players stood out for me at opposite ends of the age scale: > Giggsy and Darren Fletcher.
Yeah, Giggsy was doing those spinning turns when the ball gets played into him today and was a constant menace to Birmingham. I felt he did quite well in the first half against Stuttgart and carried it on today. The competition for artistic impression since Ronaldo's arrival has maybe prompted Giggs to show a bit more flair. Whenever I have seen Fletcher play, he impresses me. He isn't as physically developed as Ronaldo but I feel these two will push each other to develop as they are going for the same position at the moment. Fergie says Fletcher will more than likely be a central midfielder but it shows the lad's ability if he can perform out wide. Solskjaer's injury has given the opportunity for Ronaldo and Fletcher to develop quicker than anticipated. I tried to think who Fletcher reminds me of but he is a mix of players. His physique reminds me of Dietmaar Hamann - tall and slim with gangly legs. His movement when running reminds me of a taller version of Paul Scholes for some reason as I think Fletcher has very good balance for a tall lad. > The back four (with Quinton instead of John) had little to > do. Rio still fancies himself as Franz Beckenbauer Ferdinand has a very high opinion of himself I think but he isn't as good as he thinks he is. Despite being 6ft 3, he gets out-jumped a great number of times. A so-called composed defender, he just hoofs the ball out in a fashion reminiscent of a Sunday league player. We have the best goals against record this season so I can't moan too much! Before the penalty, Birmingham were quite comfortable. Ruud played a fantastic through ball and we got the penalty and the game became rather one-sided but for the odd Birmingham foray forward. Berni ------------------------ Yahoo!
