I don't see any trends in team selection. Fergie simply picks a team
to do a certain job against specific opposition. Last night, he must
have thought we'd be under constant pressure from a physical, psyched-
up team driven on by fanatical support. It didn't quite work out that
way, but that looked to be the likely scenario before the game.

I love to see Ronaldo. Just his presence on the pitch can spark a
game to life but even I wasn't expecting him to start yesterday. It
was a defensive-looking formation on paper (and, in fact, in reality)
but it did the job and it did it well. But for the incompetent Swede
(or Turnip?) denying us a penalty, it should have been 0-2.

We aren't putting in too many swashbuckling attacking displays either
home or away, but we are generally getting the results we need. At
this stage in the season, we can't ask for much more. Just grit yer
teeth when Gazza hoofs another long ball up the field. And then enjoy
the result when it's all over.
