final (possibly) comment, when my son was bassinet size (just less than
one year old), we actually bought a seat for him (on a flight from San Francisco
to London on British Airways), for safety and to make us more comfortable on the
flight as well. BUT, because he had a seat and that implied over 2 years
old, they could not classify him as a baby on the flight, therefore, we could
not request the bulkhead or any other baby paraphernalia in advance. It was
quite a catch-22 and very annoying.

British Airways has a great baby seat that sticks to
the wall as well. These do all have to be requested
in advance so that you can be assured the bulkhead
seat, where the bassinet sticks in.
