What device are you trying to sync anyway?

Sorry for the interruption, but this is what I've been waiting (lurking) to hear about on the devel list. I have a Nokia 6620, also with no serial over Bluetooth capability.

BTW, not sure if you all like to be CC'd or just write back to the list alone. SF.net lists are terribly slow, so I'll cc this once and you can clue me in if it's a faux pas.

It's been a while since I checked, but I believe sdptool shows me about the same regarding obex and syncml.

As I wrote, I'm using a Nokia 9300 phone. sdptool shows me at
least that I have the syncml obex profiles:

Service Name: NokiaSyncMLServer
Service RecHandle: 0x1002c
Service Class ID List:
 "Error: This is UUID-128"
(0x00005601-0000-1000-8000-0002ee000001) Protocol Descriptor
List: "L2CAP" (0x0100)
 "RFCOMM" (0x0003)
   Channel: 14
 "OBEX" (0x0008)
Language Base Attr List:
 code_ISO639: 0x454e
 encoding: 0x6a
 base_offset: 0x100
Profile Descriptor List:
 "Error: This is UUID-128"
(0x00005601-0000-1000-8000-0002ee000001) Version: 0x0100

I did also some tests on it and was able to connect via obex ('put' is not working somehow). Because I don't have a serial profile, I have no idea how to build up an IP connection via bluetooth. So the only way to sync would be using syncml, right? (or maybe gnokii)

I believe (95% sure) gnokii requires the serial profile.

Because this phone is not very useful for me without the
ability to sync, I would like to ask when the 0.9 version
is going to get public?

Me too :) I tried grabbing something off CVS, but it was horribly old. Also, my primary workstation is fedora core 3, which I know is a tough target to build multisync for.

version 0.9 is not developed on the cvs anymore. you can take a look at www.opensync.org for more infos

really soon now[tm] :)

the only thing thats really missing right now before we can declare the beta status for the opensync project is the syncml plugin... and we are working on this part to get it finished.

How does this (syncml) work? Is the phone client or server or both. How will I run the other side?

the phone is the client. syncml is just some xml structures that are transfered over some sort of transport (http or obex). Right now most phones support syncml over http (and only over gprs) but most of the upcoming phones will probably support syncml over obex (usb cable or bluetooth) as well.

Thanks - oh, again, let me know if you mind being cc'd or not.

i dont mind. my mailserver filters duplicates anyways :)
