Hello! I've got the travel bug real bad. I need to hit the road, but I also need to stay connected with my online business. I decided the best way to stay connected would be to take with me a tri-mode PDA/cell phone combo and a Knoppix (bootable Linux) disc with a USB memory key. Between the handheld device's wireless reception and a plugged-in system (Internet Cafe) booting from the Knoppix disc, it seems like I should be able to check my email and browse the web all over the place.
Getting down to specifics, I realized I needed a way to keep PIM data (calendar, tasks, contacts, and notes) synchronized between my laptop at home, my cell phone, and the Internet. On my cell phone and laptop, I'd like to have the PIM data available locally in case there isn't an Internet connection available, but I want to be able to synchronize each of the two devices with PIM data stored on my server via the Internet. Ideally, the synchronization would prompt me to resolve data conflicts between the server's data and the device's data. Also, I'd like to be able to fire up the Knoppix disc and USB memory key and bring the PIM data from the server to the memory key for use in the PIM software on the disc. I'm unsure of how all of this would actually work in practice. Does anyone have any advice on any of these aspects? - Grant P.S. I found the Sync4j server which I think may be part of the equation. ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: IBM Linux Tutorials.
