Folks, Eureka... My humble apologies, but I was able to resolve the issues I was having myself... Things were muddled up quite considerably by my trying all sorts of avenues in my desperation to get this program up and running. I'll try and recap the basic problems and steps I took to overcome them her,e so it may be of use for someone later... OK, once again, bear with me as here I go:
1. the first problem was a debian package that I had installed (and forgot about) through apt-get (unstable) being the multisync package version 0.80.1-11 (maintained by Mikael Sennerholm). This package does not install any plugins. I later discovered there is also a libmultisync-plugin-evolution package which I installed at that point. I then found that at least the plugins evolution plugin was somewhat working (it failed to recognize the actual Contacts, Calendar and ToDo databases). Not satisfied I deceided togo back to basics... 2. I completely removed these debian packages and deceived to opt for the 2 hourly multisync CVS build as mentioned on the multisync website. The main engine compiled fine as did the backup plugin. I was still having problems with the evolution plugin. it required libgnomeprintui-2-2.a and .la. 3. After a lot of browsing around I learned that these were part of a dev package that I had not installed. After installed this debian dev package libgnomeprintui2.2-dev using apt-get I got over this hurdle and discovered the next one... 4. This time the make command choked on not finding the libgssapi.a and la files... Again, after some browsing around trying to figure out what the hell this was, I found there was a heimdal-dev debian package I didn't have... After installing that everything worked like a charm!! Well sort of... At least I have my contacts, todos and calendar entries synchronized, one thing I noticed was that the Notes field from the PocketPC Contacts records do not synchronize to Evolution... Is this a known problem? Anyways, perhaps more to report as I use it more. In any case this program is a great help as it allows me to become less and less dependent on Windows....... One last thought from all this, it would have been really nice if there was some sort of requirements or prerequisites description that describes the necessary dev packages by their generic names for those that wish to compile multisync and it's plugins from the source files... Sorry for being so long winded, again, just hoping this will be useful someone out there... Thanks for bearing with me....
