I'm not sure about the key_read error, but it sounds like it might be a
red herring.

I'm not sure if you read the most important HOWTO :)
http://multisync.sourceforge.net/opie_sync/howto.shtml - especially the
section on "If you are still having problems".

If you have done all of that and it still doesn't work let me know and I
will try and debug it further with you.
