This is exactly the problem I've been having (on Debian/sid, with
multisync 0.82-1).  IIRC I managed to get rid of the problem some time
ago by resetting the Evolution databases, but it's not something I want
to do very often.

I think the problem was related to non-ASCII characters in Evolution's
records (calendar, address book or to-do list).  I'm unsure which they
were, exactly.

In any case, the problem showed up shortly thereafter but I didn't
pursue it any more (tired of cleaning up dupes), however, if you're
willing to put some time into solving this I'm available to give
whatever help I can.
