I'm asking this detail because I got a lot of different readers and smart cards but for some reason I still did not found a combination of USB reader, smart card, pcscd and open source driver that work together properly... :-(
I had the same problems.
The CardMan USB readers work well with pcsc-lite, but only with the Omnikey proprietary beta driver and only one at a time, not in parallel. Since the driver is proprietary I cannot debug and find out where the problem really lies, if it is in pcscd or in the driver. Omnikey says their driver is capable of multithreading.
It is not a problem of the driver. It was a problem of the PC/SC Lite clients management. With the beta version available on [1] this problem may be solved.
The Towitoko USB work with errors with the driver of Carlos Prados, so that I only get at most 2 working together.
I have also some problem with my Towitoko if I plug it as 3rd readers. It accept only to be plug in first or second reader.
The SCR335 with your ccid driver work only with the T=0 cards.
I have a same problem because I have some T=1 cards.
So please make a suggestion, if you had some money and would start from scratch, which kind of USB reader would you buy to be used together with pcsc-lite and your Gemcore and/or ccid drivers?
I am happy with CCID readers (from SCM and Omnikey). Your problem will be the T=1. Perhaps volunteers want write the support of T=1 for the Open Source CCID Driver? I think that it may be the better solution for you and moreover you may also used your old CCID readers. Perhaps you may paid someone to do this?
The requirement is that they should work in parallel, such that adding a reader increases the throughput of heavy load operations like digital
signature.
I have exactly the same requirements. When the CCID driver will implement the T=1 support, we will have a complete Open Source solution.
