I don't know of a Gemplus SC301 - SCM made a 301 USB reader and Gemplus makes 410/433/etc
You might try getting the vendor and product ID of the reader. You may be able to do this by doing:
cat /proc/bus/usb/devices (with reader inserted) and sending it ....
