The SC reader is built-in to the system and connects internally to the
serial pins on the motherboard.
Is there any other way to probe for the SC type?

I don't know of a Gemplus SC301 - SCM made a 301 USB reader and Gemplus
makes 410/433/etc
You might try getting the vendor and product ID of the reader. You
may be able to do this by doing:
cat /proc/bus/usb/devices (with reader inserted) and sending it ....

Hello,************************************************************************
You have been kind to help me with the HOWTO links, I wanted your help
with one more thing, I am unable to figure out the identity of my SC
Reader, its built-in to my machine, when I asked the manufacturer he
told
me that its a Gemplus SC301, but I can't find anything of that sort
anywhere on the web.
Is there any tool/util/technique to probe the SC reader to find out
what
it is?
