Gerry, I sympathize with your plight - I'm also using an H2 unit, and I had 
considerable difficulty getting it to work with my Linux box.  It sounds like 
you've done all the right things so far.  One thing you might look at is the 
firewall settings on the Linux box - things didn't work right for me until I 
removed the firewall restrictions on my internal network.  I tried poking 
holes for the appropriate port numbers and protocols, but for some reason, 
that didn't suffice.  You don't want to mess with external network settings, 
of course.

If that isn't it, then the standard procedure is to log into the MVP via 
telnet, identify the main mvpmc process with 'ps' and kill it, and restart it 
from the command line (with the appropriate options, of course).  Then you 
can look for error messages that might provide some clues as to what's going 
wrong.  If that doesn't pan out, capturing the ethernet traffic to/from the 
MVP on the Linux box using ethereal or tcpdump could be illuminating.

Don't give up... I'm sure you're on the verge of making it work!
